Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (a.s.) has said, "Knowledge is a shield, truthfulness is might, ignorance is abasement, understanding is glory, generosity is success, good behavior causes friendship, he who has knowledge about his time, ambiguous things do not attack him, and determination is mistrust."

In a time where literature about Islam is relatively easy to locate, one finds the range is typically limited to material that promotes an orientalist version of Islam, or does not reflect the true diversity of the Muslim Ummah.  As part of TMA's commitment to providing the Muslim Ummah with access to a wide collection of education resources that illuminate the truth and beauty of Islam, TMA has made the following books and booklets available to the general public.

Jesus on Ethics:

A well compiled book of many sayings from the Prophet Isa a.s. (Jesus) on morals and ethics as recorded by the Qur'an and in Islamic traditions.

Ramadhan Guide:

TMA has put together a Ramadhan Guide to help us all try to make the best out of this blessed month. Copies will be made available to the masajid and various locations on campus. You can also view the online version here or here.

The Holy Qur'an:
English translation by: MH Shakir
"The greatest book ever revealed to humankind, translated into simple English prose and accessible to one and all.  Comes complete with a detailed index."

"In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful. Recite with the Name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clot of blood. Recite: And your Lord is the Most Honourable. Who taught (to write) with the pen. Taught man what he knew not." (96:1-5)

Nahjul Balagha (the Peak of Eloquence):
by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as)

Compiled by Sharif ar-Radi during the 4th Islamic Century, this book is a collection of the sermons, sayings, letters, and aphorisms of the fourth caliph of Islam, and the first Imam of the Muslims, Hazrat 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (as).  The book provides a deep insight into the Imam's personality, character, and love for Allah.  Perhaps the best feature of the book is its applicability to the modern age, where prince and pauper alike can benefit from the wisdom of the greatest sage to walk the earth.  Here's just a small exerpt:

Dhi`lib al-Yamani asked Amir al-mu'minin whether he had seen Allah, when he replied, "Do I worship one whom I have not seen?" Then he enquired, "How have you seen Him?" Then Amir al-mu'minin replied:

"Eyes do not see Him face to face, but hearts perceive Him through the realities of belief. He is near to things but not (physically) contiguous. He is far from them but not (physically) separate. He is a speaker, but not with reflection. He intends, but not with preparation. He moulds, but not with (the assistance of) limbs. He is subtle but cannot be attributed with being concealed. He is great but cannot be attributed with haughtiness. He sees but cannot be attributed with the sense (of sight). He is Merciful but cannot be attributed with weakness of heart. Faces feel low before His greatness and hearts tremble out of fear of Him." (Sermon #178)

"The book Nahjul Balagha contains all that great scholars, Professors of ethics, philosophers, scientists, authorities on religion and sane politicians can say or write. The wonderful force of advice and the depth of vision prove that it is the work of a super mind like that of Ali."

--Ustad (Prof.) Abdul Wahab Hamoda
Professor of Islamics, Fuwad I University, Cairo (1951 A.D.)

"The famous book Nahjul Balagha is the work which makes one realize the Great Mind of Ali ibn Abi Talib. No book can surpass it but the Qur'an."

--Polos Salmah (The famous Christian moralist and poet of Beirut)
