Blackout Cancellations (Thursday, August 14, 2003):

In light of the massive Blackouts that have affected Eastern Canada and the United States, the TMA BBQ scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2003 has been postponed. Stay tuned for further news regarding the TMA BBQ. Banatul Huda and Siratul Mustaqeem has also been cancelled today.

This week's Siratul Mustaqeem sessions will be held at UTM. Meet us at the Student Centre at 6:30 pm (http://www.utm.utoronto.ca/maps/index.html) 6:30 - Maghrib: Hockey in a parking lot near the North Building

Maghrib: Prayers (Student Centre)
Maghrib - 10pm: Discussion and Pizza (Student Centre)

Remember to bring your hockey sticks. If you dont have one, we have extras. Also bring a discussion topic with you for our informal discussions. Bring $3 if you want pizza.

ABOUT SIRATUL MUSTAQEEM:

Siratul Mustaqeem ("The Straight Path") is similar to the "Big Brothers" program. It draws inspiration from the story of Prophet Yusuf (as) and the Ashaab al-Kahf (Youths of the Cave). Ages range from junior high school students to university alumni. Its objectives are to share experiences, discuss current issues, while having fun at the same time. In a nutshell, it is a group of youths seeking moral and ethical solutions to everyday problems.

The programs usually begin with sporting activities, video games, or a movie. This is followed by praying on time. Finally, the brothers sit together and have discussions while eating pizza. Siratul Mustaqeem is an alternative to certain Friday night activities. It is characterized by a very informal and very friendly setting. Approximately 30 youths attend each week. Siratul Mustaqeem, a subsidiary of UTM TMA, has been running every Friday since February 28, 2003.
